How long does it take to get the pictures after the wedding?
I want to say that it depends partially on how many pictures you have requested and if you also purchased photo books in the package, but I always aim on having the pictures done between two and four weeks after the wedding is over.
This is mainly because I want to edit during a full moon as my werewolf side is much faster and better at this than regular, boring human James.
Do you do destination weddings?
I’m an open minded guy with a thirst for adventure. If you pay me, I’ll go wherever you want. As long as no sharks are involved. I really don’t like sharks. Too many teeth, you know.
I'm terrible at posing and my partner is really shy, what should we do?
Have no fear, James is here. I’m used to working with nervous couples, and since most of us do not have backgrounds as runway models, it is perfectly normal to not know how to pose for a nice picture. Obviously I would love for the pictures to look as natural as possible, so often times it’s not even necessary to pose! I will most of the time just let you do whatever you normally do, and then bring some input from time to time to make things look more awesome. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
Which camera do you use?
Why thank you for asking, Mr. Nerdy-tech-guy. I’m shooting with one of the best cameras in the world, a Sony a7r II, together with three native lenses, a 10-18mm, a 55mm f/1.8, and a 70-200mm f/2.4, widely recognised as being one of the best quality lenses in the world. In other words; you are in good hands.
What's your favourite movie?
Man, I love these questions! One might almost think I was making them up myself.
My favourite movie could easily be movies like Arrival, No Country For Old Men, Amelie, or the masterpiece – The Room. I love most cult movies as well, the weirder the better.
Do you have any suggestions for how to prepare for a wedding and avoid disasters?
Why yes, I actually wrote a whole article about it right here
Okay, I'll bite: what kind of dog do you have?
He’s a cuddly, silly pug that loves attention, so I’ve given him an honorable mention here as well. Oh, I also got a picture of him right here.
He’s normally not that scary-looking, don’t worry. I am a fan of all animals.
James Allen Stewart doesn't sound like a Danish name. Are you an alien?
Almost. I was born in California but moved to Denmark when I was four, then to London in 2018. This means that my accent is indeterminable, which makes me all mysterious and stuff.
What's Denmark like?
Growing up there, it’s a pretty cool place, metaphorically but also quite literally a cool place, especially in the winter. It gets dark and gloomy and everyone stays inside, which is probably why Danes love their Christmas. When summer comes out, we go to parks and sit and drink beers as alcohol is allowed outside.
Good times. If you ask me to speak Danish to you at the wedding, I will indulge you, but beware; it does sound rather silly.
Did you always want to be a photographer?
Hmm, let’s see… I wanted to be:
A marine biologist
A daycare employee
And finally, a photographer. The photographer one seemed to have landed pretty well by now.
